Significant Figures Counter

The Significant Figures Counter checks how many sig figs each number in your list has instantly. Just paste them in and it handles the math for you. Works with scientific notation, decimals, even messy zero-padding.

You’ll see results update as you type. And if you flip on options like trimming or scientific output, you’ll get feedback right away. Need to keep errors visible? There’s a toggle for that too.

No data ever leaves the page. It’s fast, secure, and super handy when you’re checking work or cleaning up input.

Options
Keep invalid numbers
Show scientific notation
Trim trailing zeros

How to Use:

  1. Enter numbers into the Input Numbers box (one per line).
  2. Use the toggles to:
    • Keep invalid numbers (so you can spot typos)
    • Show scientific notation in the output
    • Trim trailing zeros from formatted numbers
  3. Click Count to process, or just type the output updates automatically.
  4. Use Copy Output, Export Output, or Clear All any time.

What Significant Figures Counter can do:

This tool counts significant figures in any number whole, decimal, or scientific. You can choose to see clean exponential formats, hide trailing zeroes, or highlight what failed parsing. It’s perfect for chemistry, physics, and data entry work where sig fig accuracy matters.

Example:

Input:

123.450
0.00789
1000
9.00e3
0.0100

Output:

123.450 → 6 sig figs
0.00789 → 3 sig figs
1000 → 1 sig fig
9.00e3 → 3 sig figs
0.0100 → 3 sig figs

Common Use Cases:

Use it when you’re grading science assignments, prepping lab results, or validating imported data. It helps highlight inconsistencies and counts values fast without formulas or spreadsheet stress.
